Tolerance breaks and why they may or may not be important to you!
I’ve noticed that tolerance breaks are one of those things people either swear by or say they never need, and honestly I think both sides are kind of right.
For me, it really depends on how I’m using it. If I stick to the same strain from the same vendor every day, I can definitely feel it losing its effectiveness over time. That’s usually when I know it’s time to either take a short break or change things up. Even a couple of days off can make a noticeable difference.
But I’ve also gone through periods where I didn’t feel like I needed a full tolerance break at all, and I think that came down to not being so repetitive. Rotating strains and switching vendors seems to help keep things from feeling “flat.” It’s like my body doesn’t adapt as quickly when the alkaloid profile isn’t exactly the same every time.
I’ve also found that keeping my doses in check helps more than anything. Whenever I start increasing my dose to chase the same effects, that’s usually a sign I’m heading in the wrong direction. Pulling back a bit or having a lighter day here and there tends to work better for me than constantly pushing it higher.
At the end of the day, I don’t think there’s a single right way to handle tolerance. Some people really benefit from taking regular breaks, and others seem to do fine just by rotating and being mindful. I think it just comes down to paying attention to your own body and being honest about what’s working and what isn’t.
